Why the fuck did nobody tell me about the drunk rollercoaster hallucination thing‽‽‽ Like, this should have come up either in conversation or on Tumblr *years* before I started drinking.
Me at the function, looking up various types of rats and mice on Wikipedia because they're cute and I can't hear a word anyone's saying.
Random question. I'm planning to buy a new laptop for uni, since I've just broken my ten-year-old MacBook. I have decided on a ThinkPad T450, but I need some help deciding on the hostname.
On one hand, since it's a ThinkPad, I could call it Amethyst-II (my T400 is called Amethyst).
On the other hand, since it's replacing my MacBook, I could call it Pearl-III (the MacBook was called Pearl-II, and my first MacBook was just called Pearl).
What do you think?
What a frightening limbo. Autumnal enough to call it Autumn; yet not Autumnal enough to start playing "1979" by the Smashing Pumpkins.
Not me silently praying to Dionysos because my gender is being a bitch to figure out again
I keep seeing all of this injustice and corruption everywhere I look. I always thought that I'd feel better once I turned 18 and would be able to vote and drink and stuff; but I still feel as powerless as ever.
I sometimes have dreams about randomly catching a train to London and doing something practical; but that's pretty damn unrealistic.
What the fuck can I do to make things better?
Who has two thumbs and just got a confirmed place at university?
👍THIS ENBY👍!!!
It's really all go on the smolnet today! My capsule/website is now also on gopher! gopher://hashnix.club:70/1/~dce/

Just to let you all know, I'll be moving to a new capsule soon, in order to have my second website mirrored here.

I wrote an article about my experience installing LineageOS. Sorry for the HTTPS link. I've been meaning to set up a mirror.

Satire is dead
Just got off the phone with Apple Support. We've finally managed to fix a problem with my phone that's been annoying me for months.
Turns out, when you actually ask for help instead of just living with it, things get fixed!
I've just realised that my current PC setup is very German. I'm using a German search engine (MetaGer) and a German email provider (Posteo) on a German Linux distro (openSUSE) and developing several webpages, which are all hosted in Germany, whilst tooting on a Mastodon instance which is also hosted in Germany (according to Flagfox).
Hey, is AuraGem down for everyone, or just me?

Here's a song I cannot stop listening to: https://sandy.bandcamp.com/track/serpent-is-lord-3
It's Monday morning and I've left my headphones at home. This is the worst thing to happen to anyone ever. /j
Now that I'm 18, I just did something I've been waiting to do for a long time... That's right, I voted in a local election!
I GOT A BLÅHAJ FOR MY BIRTHDAY!!!
It's my birthday!
Reminder: DST and BST start today. Set your clocks an hour forwards!
Just passed my driving test!!!
I just had a free period, which would have been exactly enough time to do my chemistry research. So did I? No! I decided instead to patch and compile st (simple terminal).
Damn, the internet is BORING once you've deleted the psychologically addictive social media. I might actually have to study or read or go outside or something. /g
Isn't it annoying when you lose something, so you search the entire house for it and instead find every lost object and idea ever EXCEPT the one you were looking for? If I suddenly found Atlantis in the kitchen sink, I wouldn't be surprised.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I've just transferred all of my serious projects on Codeberg over to a separate organisation, and I've noticed that there are now only two mediocre repos on my main profile. Does anyone have any ideas for simple, handy things I could build to flesh it out? I code mainly in Python, I know HTML (but not JS), I regularly use Bash and Zsh, and I am learning C++.

Just sent in my UCAS application!
So I'm at my gran's right now and the main fuse has blown. While we wait for Northern Powergrid to arrive, my dad's taken the liberty of changing the socket behind the sofa, since the old one is broken. Anyway, it turns out that none of her sockets are earthed, so it's a miracle nobody's been electrocuted in the 60+ years the family's been living here.

Here's what I'm giving a few friends this year. Pretty neat, right? gemini://deafeningcreationearthquake.flounder.online/img/konpeito.jpg
Hey, anyone know why Konpeito stopped, or if there's an alternative/successor?
I just lost whamageddon.
I'm thinking of writing my own Gemini client. Would Python/Tk or Nim/NiGui be nicer to use, do you think?
I think they've changed the Monster Zero recipe. It tastes of nothing but sucralose now.

It would be really neat if humans hibernated. Like, I could really use a few months off.

This morning, I walked all the way to the other side of town to drop off a parcel. Then, immediately after I'd walked all the way back, I got a notification to say that a parcel had just been delivered to the exact same locker for me to pick up.
Welp. Better get back to the other side of town!
MY PINETIME ARRIVED!!! gemini://deafeningcreationearthquake.flounder.online/img/pinetime.jpeg
Damn! Geminispace is SO QUIET today!
My capsule, deafeningcreationearthquake.flounder.online, has a really long URL. Do you think I should move it to edan.flounder.online?
Just switched to siduction with Xfce on my ThinkPad (the hostname is Amethyst). It's Debian Sid, but with bug fixes and held packages to provide a more stable experience while still running the latest packages. I liked my Arch+i3 system, but it's good to mix it up once in a while.
I might have a carve-up on all my laptops. I've noticed that DNF is very slow on LapisLazuli...
DFHGJGJGK I JUST BOUGHT THE PINETIME!!!

Is it normal to have an identity crisis when you finally sort out your sleep schedule and start to wake up for the first time in years?
Definitely the time of year to start listening to "1979" by The Smashing Pumpkins.
Today in England, there's a high of only 16°C. Autumn is finally here!!! 🍂
Just been to see the Barbie movie, and it was AWESOME!!! I left a review on Letterboxd, which you can also find on my Gemlog: gemini://deafeningcreationearthquake.flounder.online/gemlog/2023-09-11.gmi
Finally going to see the Barbie movie! Oppenheimer isn't at my local cinema anymore, but I guess I'll be able to get it on Blu-Ray soon enough.
The summer holidays end tomorrow. Only eight months left until I leave school for good. At least, I hope for good.
Time to get ready for Autumn.

I really fucking hate it when I just can't seem to sleep. It's 2:05 AM here in the UK, and somehow I feel more awake than I did in the afternoon.
Hey, what are some useful gemini capsules? Like, is there a particular place in geminispace where you can just spend hours and not get bored?
Finally felt a bit of gender euphoria. Nice.
I made some new weirdcore art: gemini://deafeningcreationearthquake.flounder.online/img/pool.jpeg
Just did something for my mental health. I went for a five-mile walk in heavy rain while listening to Death Cab for Cutie and Jack Stauber.

Here are the books I bought:
"Heartstopper: Volume 1" by Alice Oseman
"The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" by Douglas Adams
"The Satanic Verses" by Salman Rushdie
I just spent half my paycheck on books.
I suppose it's just part of the chaos that comes with any new technology, but I'm getting annoyed by the number of gemini capsules and gopher holes that are disappearing or being abandoned. Half of the capsules I've bookmarked in Lagrange haven't been updated since 2022 and it's making geminispace feel quite lonely, like regular space.
I just told an AI chatbot about what's been happening with Xitter, and here's what it said:
"Thank you for sharing that intriguing, albeit fictional, scenario. It's an imaginative and entertaining portrayal of a tumultuous series of events in the tech world. If you have any questions or would like to discuss any aspect of this fictional story further, feel free to let me know."
Well this is new: depression with no cause. Normally there's some event that causes me to spiral back down into the ol' black pit of sadness, but yesterday there was nothing. It was warm, my family was nice to me, I hadn't even ready the news; and, yet, I feel like shit.
Can anyone recommend some music from the '60s? I'm mainly into alt rock, and I'm already a fan of The Mamas & The Papas and David Bowie.
In vague terms of style, something that Mona Simpson (from the Simpsons) might listen to.
Is there a place on Gemini where I can share videos, like PeerTube; or will I just have to host them myself?
I can't believe I survived 2020 without so much as a cold, only to get covid whilst on holiday in 2023. Fuck!
Someone's gotta tell my dad that there are options between "good morning" and "GET OUT OF BED! NOW!", and it isn't going to be me.
Well, my mum and brother finally gave me their colds. At least, I think it's a cold.
It could be covid, since my brother's friend's dad just came out of hospital and tested positive. It could be flu, since the symptoms are all there. It could be man-flu, since I am AMAB. Whatever the case, it's putting a bit of a downer on my holiday.
Still, it could be worse. I could be on fire, too.
I'm building a web browser.
https://codeberg.org/X-Industries/Magellan Codeberg
It's 23:33 here in the UK. I've just finished rebuilding my playlists after converting my ENTIRE music library into Opus and MANUALLY transferring the cover art to the new files, since this was too difficult for avconv to perform.
On the plus side, I've reduced my library's size by almost half.

It looks like not even the small web is safe from the tech giants: gopher://gopher.linkerror.com:70/0/phlog/2023/20230705
Last night I managed to fix my laptop. It's the first successful repair I've ever done in which I knew what I was doing. The screen works again, and I also managed to figure out what was wrong with the USB ports (just another loose cable).
The whole 14-year-old notebook is now fully functional and ready to accept an OS. I think I'll go for either Rhino Linux, openmamba GNU/Linux, or siduction with Qtile.
JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST PRIDE FLAG!!!!
Ight, imma start using interrobangs (‽)
It's currently 4:32 in the morning, here in the UK. Not sure if I'll be sleeping at all.
Today, I was in a meeting with a member of the Sixth Form team at school, and I brought up that my preferred pronouns are they/them. I was just expecting the lady I was talking to to start using them, but she went one step further and actually put them into the school's register system! Feeling great!
UPDATE: Framebuffer is working now. Currently watching YouTube with yt-dlp and MPlayer.
Is it bad that I'm drinking two entire cans of Monster Energy a day?
Just got a CLI-only system running. I tried to write a Station post, but it ended up pretty long, so here it is on my Gemini capsule:
gemini://deafeningcreationearthquake.flounder.online/gemlog/2023-05-22.gmi
I've just obtained a new CD, a chilli plant, and a bowl I made myself. Today has been good.
Europeans and Oceanians of Station, what are the pros and cons of living in your country?
I (17NB) am thinking of emigrating from the UK when I’m older, but I’m unsure of where I would want to go.
If you live in Europe or Oceania (Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, etc.), what are the good and bad things about life in your country?
Here's an article I think everyone on the internet (and Gemini/Gopher/Spartan) needs to read:

It'll be shorts weather in no time.
Just started watching The Owl House. It's amazing! Would highly recommend!
Okay, I like Mastodon, but I feel like it makes up a little too much of the Fediverse. We need to add more servers for PeerTube, Pixelfed, and smaller services; and we need to use them more.
Finally decided to abandon my #Reddit account. With all the bots, the trolls, the tracking, and the imbeciles, it's more trouble than it's worth, in my opinion. I've replaced it with #Libreddit for now.
How long will this last? I guess I'll have to wait and see.
