Can anyone recommend some music from the '60s? I'm mainly into alt rock, and I'm already a fan of The Mamas & The Papas and David Bowie.
In vague terms of style, something that Mona Simpson (from the Simpsons) might listen to.

these are some of my jams: early Jethro tull (this was, stand up, benefit), pentangle, early King Crimson (In the court of the crimson king, in the wake of Poseidon), Peter Gabriel era genesis, anything from the Canterbury scene, Van Morrison's astral weeks, camel's flight of the snow goose, early pink Floyd. · 1 year ago

i own a single record. it is “sound of silence” by simon and garfunkel. since i don’t own a record player yet, i have to take it to friends to listen to it. when the needle creeks and analog semi-silence of a record player breaks into the start of the song i tune out of reality and just imagine being in the song. i walked cobblestone in london’s darkness, felt the rain, saw the neon signs, and experienced the deafening sound of silence in society when i lived in the uk (still love that country). this is a 60s must have song imho. also: vinyl records ftw. · 1 year ago
I think for music from the 60's Mona would likely be listening to someone like John Coltrane, although he isn't exactly alt rock. :)
One of my favorites from that time period is Jefferson Airplane, but they're more psych rock. · 1 year ago
