You’re right. But I made the decision from day one to talk openly about everything because this city needed that. If that truly cost me, I can handle that. You’re right about the PR aspect, we have a PIO and she does great, but certainly not a messaging team.

I had considered a series of stories with our local TV station for CDBG week to explain the projects it has funded. My boss canned it almost immediately because of a Facebook post from a random person. One of the stories was explaining pedestrian improvements downtown. People are still complaining about bump outs taking parking spaces.

Me: it makes walking easier Them: no one's walking downtown Me: then why do you need the parking? How do you get from your car to a business?
