No, this guy really misses smoking and hates that he doesn't like coffee enough to join the crowd.

The hardest part of quitting smoking for me was having coffee without a cigarette. There are few things better than a smoke and a hot coffee on a cold day.

This 100%. As an ex-smoker and avid coffee drinker, I can assure OP that they aren’t even in the same ballpark. People who say that can’t start their day without coffee are exaggerating. Smokers are definitely not exaggerating.

I mean I think along the lines if OP and I've never drank a cup of coffee in my life or smoked a cigarette. Although I'm not as extreme as OP in my opinions.

Yeah the second half where they talk about how they don't like the taste of coffee kinda takes it sideways

He's also strangely upset that he can't say or spell espresso with an x without getting corrected. It's spelled espresso. It's not "coffee culture" to use correct words and spelling. Pedantic? Sure, could be. It could also just be a nice person who noticed what was said/typed and thought OP might like to know the correct word.

I do not drink coffee, and people who have coffee drinking as their identity are silly to me. But, it doesn't upset me.

Forreal though. Sorry for the anecdotal opinion but I’m a former heroin addict, cigarette addict. All I have left now is coffee. Without this final outlet I would absolutley loathe anyone who can do these things I can’t. Don’t get me wrong I love my life today but I absolutley hate the fact that I can’t get loaded anymore or have a cigarette after a stressful day. Coffee is my go to to relax and relieve some stress without throwing my life away. Not having at least coffee to give me something would make me a bitter fuck. Getting mad at people for enjoying coffee is so stupid, it’s ruining no ones life

There is a social aspect to both. Plus in some circles it’s super hard to avoid the coffee lifestyle. Pretty much in the academic or research world, every professor/graduate student/researcher or consultant is hyped on coffee.
