View submission: Coffee Culture Sucks

See I agree with his opinion but the post is ridiculous.

I agree completely with the whole don’t talk to me before I’ve had my coffee crap or I drink 6 pots before 9 am and same with Starbucks nonsense.

But OP seems to hate coffee in general. As someone who has a cup 3-4 times a week it’s a lovely beverage that’s incredibly versatile with a nice cognition benefit and social benefits as well.

So I agree with the title but find it a bit disingenuous, it should just say I hate coffee and everything about it

It seems clear that OP has had years of people mocking/hating them for smoking. Maybe they smoked every morning. They sat there being mocked for their ritual smoking and noticed they were hypocrites by their own standards.

Instead of voicing this opinion to these people, they kept it inside as it built up to what we see here. Every comment about their smoking - they thought of 10 other things they would like to say related to their coffee.

I don't think you can develop a hate like this without having devoted a lot of time ruminating on it lol.

I was the same way about things growing up. If someone would mock me, I'd internally debate them about how my thing was no different from their other thing. These internal debates turned to full on hatred for those things they did that was similar to what I did.

Once I realized this, I called way down. OP should probably lay off the coffee for a bit to chill out lol

I think “dont talk to me until I’ve had a cup of coffee” is really saying “I’m not a morning person and please give some time to wake up before trying to have a conversation with me”. At least that’s how it is for me. Even before I started drinking coffee I was just not a happy go lucky person in the morning that wants to talk to other people first thing when I wake up. Even with coffee it takes me a couple hours before I’m ready to do more than one word responses or grunts.

Exactly. There's a MASSIVE difference between caffeine addiction and just enjoying coffee.

Yeah no one likes people who can’t function without coffee, or snobs who have to have certain beans ground in a certain way with certain equipment or it offends their senses.

But it can be an acquired taste and it smells amazing! My “habit” consists of one latte in the morning, and I never needed more than that, even when I was a flight attendant. To lump all coffee drinkers into the same category is the same as saying “men cheat,” or “all women can’t drive.”

I agree with you. Coffee is great and the culture is annoying sometimes. I’m not going to die if I don’t have a cup of coffee but I enjoy one.

I’d also like to bring up his beef with the word espresso. Why does he feel the need to pronounce it or say it wrong. I’m pretentious if I spell and pronounce things correctly?
