Iirc Gaming was only male dominated was thats what they "had" to choose back in the 80/90's in terms of who to market towards....which even then is kinda dumb because that still dosnt stop women from playing them...its not like there anything inherent to gaming that only men would enjoy it

Nowadays there is less of an incentive to gender market stuff what imo was an already pretapped market companies see as an untapped market.

A lot of gaming was women-led until the blockbuster-sized budgets and studio executives entered the picture and started bringing corporate and business school values into the picture.

Roberta Williams is the Original Gamer. Bobby Kotick doesn't even play his own games.

That’s how the stereotype started, but it became entrenched because of other reasons. I already talked about the “dudebro” era of gaming. There’s also a general hostility to women playing games because people think they’re “posers” or a belief that games catering to women aren’t “real” games.
