Sure, but that’s playing word games a little bit. I may not fear mechanical problems, but I do anticipate needing to deal with them. Likewise I don’t carry a framing hammer on my belts when I’m not framing. The specific tools you mentioned have wide applicability.
And, you’re also ignoring the fact that plenty of people are quite open about wanting or actually carrying a gun because they are afraid. There are many fear-motivated firearm owners out there.
I don’t think it advances the discussion to pretend that a gun on your hip is the same as a multitool.

What exactly is the discussion to be advanced?
I mean; different people, do different things, for different reasons.
Do I need to justify the things I do? Do you need to justify the things you do?
The chances of getting killed by an automobile are much greater than being killed by a firearm.
Should everyone just take the bus?
