Ouch yeah I only have my old iPhone 8 and nothing else with Apple. I don’t think it’s been backup in a while because my iCloud is full… I’ll try to check if I have a detailed list of text exchanges on my phone account but I don’t think I can find that unless I contact the carrier, right? But I guess I’ll wait to see if the secretary says we’re actually in trouble or if it’s just that my kid needs to go back to class. What’s sucks is that I can’t prove why we didn’t go to class but I guess that they don’t know the teacher is getting paid for hours she’s not always doing and I also can’t tell them that without proof…

1. You can't delete iMessages off someone's phone except for right after you send them. There's a short window where you can unsend a message, and if someone does that to you, you can still see that they unsent a message.

2. If these are iMessages, the carrier doesn't have them.

3. Just tell the truth anyway even if you lost the messages. Also, if the teacher doesn't back you up on this, you may want to find a new teacher because that is deeply shitty and she's essentially throwing you under the bus for something you didn't do.

I’m sorry. That’s really shitty of the teacher. Yes, you would have to contact your phone’s carrier to get them. I would do it sooner rather than later. There is no guarantee your phone carrier will keep texts/data past a certain amount of time. Here’s an old article[1] that tells you how long each carrier retains information. It’s possible this information has changed though.
