Allow me to provide a different point of view. I have protested at the statehouse on a Saturday before. No legislators were there, so we knew that nobody who mattered could see us. Also, only about 15-20 people showed up. Making it a weekend doesn’t mean more people will show. Those who are passionate about it will find a way to get off of work (sick time, swap shifts with someone, extended lunch, etc.). Those who aren’t won’t show no matter what.

I think a weekday is better because at least the legislators and their staff will be on site while it’s going on. If we have good attendance, they’ll see it. If we’re pathetic, well…I guess they deserve to know that the opposition isn’t that great.

I’m planning on being there, but only through a stroke of luck that I’m already off that day (not everyone works M-F every week). I definitely understand your objections, though, and I know how hard it would be for me to make it if my schedule didn’t already align.

That is a very good point. A protest loses some power if no one is in the building when it happens. As more and more people are forced out of their jobs though, it’s going to get very very loud string capital buildings.

Making both bread AND the circus unaffordable is not going to end well.
