View submission: 50 Protests 50 States February 5th, 2025

It’s a bold choice going for the imagery of “25” when picked the date, but it’s a random Wednesday. Suffering people are going to need to work and turnout is going to be much lower than if it was a weekend or holiday. 2/5/25 looks cute, but I fear it will not be as impactful as it could be.

I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think I am.

Allow me to provide a different point of view. I have protested at the statehouse on a Saturday before. No legislators were there, so we knew that nobody who mattered could see us. Also, only about 15-20 people showed up. Making it a weekend doesn’t mean more people will show. Those who are passionate about it will find a way to get off of work (sick time, swap shifts with someone, extended lunch, etc.). Those who aren’t won’t show no matter what.

I think a weekday is better because at least the legislators and their staff will be on site while it’s going on. If we have good attendance, they’ll see it. If we’re pathetic, well…I guess they deserve to know that the opposition isn’t that great.

I’m planning on being there, but only through a stroke of luck that I’m already off that day (not everyone works M-F every week). I definitely understand your objections, though, and I know how hard it would be for me to make it if my schedule didn’t already align.

Some can call off but maybe lots of others can make it. Maybe we stay until Thursday and Friday and Saturday. Let's camp on Capitol

I agree it seems like every protest is in the middle of the week where most people won't be able to attend. I'm not going to request a day off of work on short notice when I'm barely affording to get by for a protest not many people are going to be able to go to in the first place

This won't be the last. I expect people will take to the streets very soon, for days at a time. I think he wants to declare Martial Law but already law enforcement is calling him out.

I have to work and this is not a good day. I do work down the street from the state house but date and time is not good.
