Don't chat with anyone from Google. Just go to the help page and search for your issue and follow the steps, the process is entirely automated aside from you contacting your local shop.

Also how on earth would you be out of warranty? All Pixel 8s got an extended screen warranty of 3 years. It's impossible for you to be out of that period, the phone isn't even two years old. I swear it genuinely doesn't seem like anyone from Google Support knows what they're doing sometimes.

Google support is some of the worst I've ever interacted with. Would you mind posting a link to that page, if it's not too inconvenient? Or sending it to me perhaps

It doesn't help that I was high when it first happened and I was going out of the country in 6 days and there are no places in the repair network within a 4 hour drive so I jumped the gun on getting the ifixit kit. Thanks for the advice!
