It might be better to ignore my comment and follow your teacher/tradition. It does seem that there are varying definitions at play.

In my tradition the "unconditioned" is usually called Rigpa. It is with us from beginningless time and it is never diminished, even while we are wandering in samsara. We only wander in samsara because we don't recognize "it"

I believe in any tradition, we can agree that giving it a name or thinking about it conceptually will not be the same as experiencing it to be truth. "A finger pointing at the moon is not the moon"

thank you. just for my own understanding, i am seeing a few comments here from others as well that seem to distinguish between nirvana and enlightenment.

to your knowledge, is there such a distinction in mahayana traditions?
