why would nibbana, as the unconditioned, still be subject to conditions?

does your tradition believe nibbana to be something other than enlightenment?

It might be better to ignore my comment and follow your teacher/tradition. It does seem that there are varying definitions at play.

In my tradition the "unconditioned" is usually called Rigpa. It is with us from beginningless time and it is never diminished, even while we are wandering in samsara. We only wander in samsara because we don't recognize "it"

I believe in any tradition, we can agree that giving it a name or thinking about it conceptually will not be the same as experiencing it to be truth. "A finger pointing at the moon is not the moon"
