With Amazon killing off the ability to download your purchased kindle books, I'm finding myself looking for somewhere else to buy from. I'd like that to be somewhere that sells DRM free books, but I know that's also going to probably limit me for what books I can buy. I'm also going to eventually want to replace my Kindle too. Not sure where I'm going to go there, but I'll have a while to think about it as my Kindle is relatively young.

Thnks all for the suggestions. I've got a lot of researching to do before I settle on something, that's for sure. One thing I know I want to do in the future is buy from places when I can where DRM isn't an issue whenever posible. 路 1 month ago
I just saw that Pine64 finally released their Note (e-paper tablet), which is entirely in your control as it is mostly Foss and running linux. 路 1 month ago
There's bookshop.org where you can get ebooks AND support local bookstores! Most of the time, you will need to strip them of DRM to load them on the Kindle though. Tor (the publisher) always sells their books DRM free, they are the only big(ger) publisher I know of who does that. 路 1 month ago
There's always Barnes and Noble NOOK I guess. I've always gotten physical books because I prefer them by a wide margin. (publishing pun not intended.) 路 1 month ago
welp it's back to physical books for me for a bit 路 1 month ago
You can jailbreak your Kindle and put Koreader on it, then you can read EPub files.
There is the ethical grayzone of using Annas Archive as well or loaning from your local library and using an online Adobe coverter to pull a non-drm Epub file from that. 路 1 month ago
