using windows 7 again for just 24 hours has made me really appreciate just how good linux is now. that was genuinely harrowing and i expected it to be refreshing. how far the king has fallen

my mom bought me my second fav album ever on vinyl for christmas! she somehow stumbled upon it in a random local record store!!! the chances of that happening are astronomically low for some many reasons... i am very happy

all of my vsts and my headphones have broken simultaneously rendering my completely unable to work on music for an indefinite period of time. so no music for a while probably
someone asked me how im able to refuse to use stuff that normal people use on principle so i have this really cool thing that my psychiatrist thinks is ocd where i am obsessed with the idea that i am obligated to assume nobody else will have the willingness to change the world for the better so i am thus morally required to do it all myself and i tie like every thing ever into it so because of my obsessive compulsion to make be good enough to make the world a better place i just cant stand by and passively let things i dont agree with happen. so the answer is mental illness like usual
i feel driven to post this again https://www.theguardian.com/music/2021/dec/01/spotify-wrapped-is-free-advertising-that-says-nothing-about-the-joy-of-music
like new songs posted, 2 finished 1 probably indefinitely WIP. one i was trying to copy a certain famous jungle artist and did okay i guess. next i made a song that inexplicably sounds EXACTLY like the black metal band noltem. then last ive just made a song attempting to mimic the style of drum and bass artist heaven pierce her and i think some of these might just actually be the instruments heaven pierce her used and i chose them by sheer coincidence, lmao
another song for a certain soundtrack btw https://cohost.org/virtueisdead/post/3679569-div-style-backgrou
GUESS WHO JUST DISCOVERED THEIR LAPTOP DOESNT SUPPORT USB C ALT MODE AFTER BUYING A USB C DOCK SPECIFICALLY TO DO DUAL MONITOR
friend posted a little diddy and captioned it "gregorian chant cd makes for perfect jungle music intro material" and they were so absolutely correct. i made a demonstration of what it might sound like https://cohost.org/virtueisdead/post/3648775-div-style-backgrou
christmas season begins... hype...
i now finally own one of my favorite games (katana zero) for real! i have now purchased this game 2 times, lol, but the devs deserve it tbh. i previously only "owned" it on (indefinitely rented it from) steam which of course prevents you from opening it unless steam is open and up to date / online. every game from my steam library that i get on GOG or Itch makes my soul a little bit lighter. fuuuuck steam. (i also bought a few other games, like one i have once pirated and am thus obligated to buy, as and "Shelter")
cannot wait for my house to have repairs finished
i love melonland forums. the first forum to every make me really understand the craze surrounding forums and really personally appreciate the experience
i think given the way my website is currently set up, it would probably actually read better on gemini than it currently does on html, lol. do you folks have any reccomendations on references for learning how to get started setting up a gemini capsule? i have a year or so experience setting administrating an http webserver but i dont really know what software to use for gemini...
its honestly kinda surprising how active this place is!
slowly accumlating friends on xmpp. makes me very happy. i get a special kind of euphoria from chatting with people on psi+
succesfully introduced my grandpa to gemini, he seemed very excited about it! he is now lurking somewhere in the BBS and Station... happy to see him excited about the internet again!
I've had a number of conversations with my grandfather about his past as a bulletin board system admin, and you can really tell how infrequently he gets talk about it by how much his eyes light up when he gets the chance. I really love hearing his stories, but I think he might be under the impression that there's no longer any space for such things on the internet... I'm hoping today to introduce him to gemini and this bulletin board, so I can re-invigorate some of that love for computing he has had hidden in the crawlspace of his mind for the past two decades. I hope he enjoys it! I'll probably show him either lagrange or a terminal client, depending on his preference. Can't wait!
ive just discovered station. very interesting idea, frankly shocking that it works at all. brilliant work. i think i may post here alongside cohost for my briefer thoughts
