Using Mastodon from the CLI:
gemini://space.matthewphillips.info/posts/mastodon-from-the-cli/
This is a test message to see if it appears on Mastodon (testing a cross-posting service).
Working on a Lambda AWS project and it's like, DynamoDB is *right there* to use. But then I think about having to come up with primary key naming conventions and it's like, ugh.
I'm thinking about building a cross-posting service that takes a Tinylog URL and cross-posts to Mastadon. Would people be interested in something like that, and before I start, has anyone already built one?
Part of me wants to create my own tinylog. But then I think, Station already *is* a tinylog. So why do I need to build this again on my own domain. A couple of reasons:
1. Permanent ownership of the data. The tinylog would go into file storage I own and control.
2. Ability to add new features that Station might not get around to.
3. Wanting to not spam Station by posting constantly.
(3) is actually a big part of my mindset here. I would probably post several times a day if I wasn't worried about hogging Stations feed.
Gemini feels less active to me than it was a year ago. Maybe I just have rosey memories.
X-Files has at least 2 episodes inspired by The Thing.
Been fairly sick since the weekend. Have a lot of reading to catch up on I suppose. Still have another day or two before I'm fully "back".
Has there ever been a discussion surrounding a file format for books that works with Gemini? Like epub but containing gemtext is my idea. If no one has ever brought this up I might write a post on the idea.
I have a few Gemini projects in the works that I'm super excited about and can't wait to share. Gemini is a great platform for reading, is my only tease.
Modest Criticisms of the Internet Archive
gemini://space.matthewphillips.info/posts/modest-criticisms-of-the-internet-archive/
There's so much old and valuable content on the web that's now only accessible via the Internet Archive. But that can be slow and has gaps. I wonder if Gemini would be a good home for historical Internet content.
It would be cool if you could connect your Station account to a Mastodon instance and auto-post to Mastodon when posting from Station.
There's nothing better than a Sunday afternoon with absolutely no obligations.

HTTP proxy woes:
I've been attempting to update duckling but am running into an issue where Lagrange seems to be sending an empty request. It goes straight to EOF in the first byte.
Are there any other browsers that support HTTP proxies that I can test against?
I've issued a new certificate for my capsule, if you have visited before please trust the new certificate the next time you visit.

Happy World Turtle Day everyone!
Today is the day we celebrate turtles. A couple of fun facts and some links for your enjoyment:

Station suggestion:
I see a lot of people posting links in replies. It would be nice if Station displayed these as links so you don't have to copy/paste (which can be difficult to do on mobile).
I'm trying to change from a Let's Encrypt certificate to a self-signed certificate (I didn't know you could use self-signed).
When I changed my cert Lagrange gave an error that the cert was not one it trusted and the server didn't announce a change.
Does Gemini have a way to announce a cert change that I didn't know about? Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks!
