So... I impulse bought this https://watchy.sqfmi.com The Watchy smartwatch. As someone that loves his Pebble... this has a lot of potential. Maybe make it work with GadgetBridge and get notifications on it? Add an alarm? A calendar? We'll see!

@resetreboot I have one of the metal cases on mine and it helps to protect it from getting knocked around but there is nothing that creates any sort of seal protect the internals. A few water drops could get around the display or any of the buttons. It is a cool piece of hardware and I'll wear it occasionally but I just don't regularly because I doubt it would survive long. 路 1 year ago

@kelbotinspace Well, the latest version has a case, which stops the inner circuitry to be exposed to water drops casually when washing hands. But no, you can't have a shower as I can do with my Pebble, since this is something you build with three steps. 路 1 year ago

@resetreboot Very cool! I'll happily give it a try if you get it working. The functionality missing is only part of it though for me. The lack of any water resistance makes it hard to wear daily when even washing your hands could kill it. I have a Pinetime as well @drh3xx and it is definitely more featureful and polished but lacks one of the main features I want in a watch. The sunlight readable always on low power display. 路 1 year ago

@drh3xx Not taken the time to do so, but will do. @kelbotinspace there's a lot of missing functionality but that's my goal, to actually add them. I think I can get notifications through Gadget Bridge. 路 1 year ago

Do you know of any watchy vs pinetime comparisons? 路 1 year ago

I have one of these too. It's a neat little gadget but not all that good at being a smartwatch I'll actually wear. :-) 路 1 year ago

These are surprisingly "cheap". Opensource custom hardware like this is usually waaaaay more expensive. 路 1 year ago
