I've been learning a lot of rust recently. I think I really like it.

My girlfriend finds Star Trek boring (apart from Lower Decks, which she really enjoys). In rewatching DS9, I can't understand her perspective. This show is just incredible.

I've moved to posting "microblogs" instead of posts on social media. It's a nice change of pace. I can write something a bit more substantial than a social media post, while also keeping it simpler than a full blog post. A good balance.

Going to have to start looking at how to move my sites over to Sourcehut soon. Netlify deployment via Sourcehut builds sounds fun...

I spent far too long yesterday refactoring a shell script we use in our translation workflow. Probably a waste of time, but it's much more efficient and maintainable now.

I'm spending so much time these days working with web technologies it's driving me a bit wild.

Finally worked out how to get Station working with Elpher. I should really start contributing documentation for these things because they're really not obvious to the less elispy among us.

Does anyone here use both Gopher and Gemini regularly? What are your use cases for each one?

Good Lord do I hate Cloudflare. Why are small websites using this nonsense at all?

Anybody have any IRC channel recommendations? I've been getting back into using it, looking to chat to interesting folk.

The more I use Matrix, the more I'm souring on it. I really wanted to love it when I first heard about it, but it's just such a cludgy UX.

I decided to retire my old http website and just focus my attention on gemini. I'm just tired of the web at this point.

I love how there are so many niche topic logs on the smallweb. Just people posting about nerdy topics without any need for analytics or "engagement". It's what the web was always supposed to be.

Having fun wandering around Tallinn at the moment. Great little city. Rīga was a slight disappointment, but I think it'd be great to visit if I had local friends there to show me around. Bring on Turku next!

Moved into a new place and the internet won't be connected for a week, so it looks like I'll mostly be consuming the web through Gemini to save my mobile data.

Any writers out there looking to try something fun? Typst is a pretty interesting project to try and get the power of LaTeX into something easier to handle.

I love it when I have a lot of work to do but it's all dependent on other people doing something. Feels productive.

Stuck in an airport. Utter nightmare trying to travel home for the holidays despite leaving at the beginning of the month.

Glad I decided not to try and leave nearer the time…

I've mentioned it a couple of times, but if anyone is interested in IRC I've set up #station over on Libera Chat as a place we can hang out on the edges of Gemspace.

Spent a little bit of time this morning (1-5am is still morning, yes?) checking out some of the cool new things that I've missed in Gemini. Wow, this has come a long way.

Both Lagrange and amfora offer excellent browsing experiences, we've got an awesome looking microblogging site here, there's proper news aggregates which proxy web content... It's amazing what's been done since last I was here.

This is very exciting! I've not come across something like this in the gemspace before (although, to be fair, I have been absent for over a year). What else is interesting around here?
