Implemented the game craps on gemini. Has a small tutorial mode for learning.

any racquetball fans in here? I just played my ass off for an hour and a half against a really good player and finally took a game. Best cardio high I've ever had is from playing this game. great for mental and overall health as well.
"Over the course of the study's nine years, those who regularly played racket sports were 47% less likely to die of any cause and 56% less likely to die of cardiovascular disease."

what a week at work. managing people is exhausting.
Farkle newest features:
Added: weekly high score that resets after Sundays
Updated: ties for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place should now give points to everyone, e.g., if you tied for 3rd you'll get 1 point, even if the database pushed you out of the top three when sorting in descending order
Note: I'll try and keep an eye on the tournament scoring for a couple days to make sure it's still functioning correctly

neat interactive capsule, even if seemingly abandoned.

Nice name @reillypascal - do you code in pascal, perhaps?
At skyjake's suggestion, I've implemented a "tournament" style ranking system for my gemini implementation of the dice game Farkle. At the end of each day, the top 3 finishers will get points towards their monthly total:
1st: 5 points
2nd: 3 points
3rd: 1 point
After the last game of the month the results will be archived in the log and the monthly standings will be reset.
If all goes well, we'll have our first archived month on Wednesday.

Argylle on Apple is a laughably bad movie. I watched it all just because I had to know. literally laughed at plot turns at the end.
I need to make a shirt that says "No, I don't want to sign up for your data-sucking rewards program. Stop asking me"
maybe something shorter.
but that's the gist.
next log is #6000 for station. who will it be
I implemented the dice game Farkle in Gemini. You can check it out here

I started a hobby project in Python and then became interested in (free) Pascal, so now half of it is written in that. I'm surprised how much I enjoy it, to be honest. It's an old (but seemingly fast) language, but I think that's part of the draw. Might just rewrite the whole thing in Pascal for the heck of it.

The DSN Antenna aggregator is back online after I realized my server upgrade broke it
gemini://gemini.smallweb.space/antenna/
Does anyone use Buran for Android to browse Gemini? trying to figure out how to load a client certificate. I've got the PEM from Lagrange and tried to convert to pkcs #12 but it doesn't seem to work.
BOFH (bastard operator from hell) archive on gemini:
gemini://tilde.team/~khuxkm/bofharchive/
Interesting that deedum and elaho on iOS don't have user cert support. deedum on Android does. seems Lagrange is the only client I know of on iOS with client cert support, unless I'm missing something.
not sure if @m15o is on here but I keep trying to comment on midnight.pub and get a forbidden error. this one kid was having a rough time and I wanted to reply but no dice.
Due to renewed interest here's a plug for DSN Antenna: Non-technical gemlog aggregator (math and science, etc. is fine just staying away from computer technology). you'll need a separate gemlog or a way to parse out and submit only the non-tech ones. come help me fill out this community.

Found this little gem from 2014 on a capsule today:

just saw a commercial saying that their "new" gasoline is better for the planet.
it's gasoline.
green washing at its finest right there.
Has anyone ever played the card and dice game Fill or Bust? I've been playing since the 90s and enjoy introducing it to new groups of people. I got some young kids at work hooked on it during their breaks.

Created a dictionary search. let me know if you spot any issues... I just got it working tonight.

my AVS from retrousb came in!

anyone have a good listing of Unicode icons I can use on Gemini that doesn't require sifting through 300 pages of characters?
I created a HOWTO on making a capsule. I still have some sections to write, but the server section is done. If you have suggestions or spot some errors let me know.

my only sense of people joining Gemini is the docking bay at the bottom of Station. it's nice to see.
If you popped over to #BBS lately you may have seen that I rebranded my Antenna clone to be Deep Space Network (DSN) Antenna, with the intent of hosting non-technical gemlogs / transmissions. Feedback welcomed.

With the official Antenna being down, I made a clone on my capsule. Feel free to use and let me know if there's any issues:

Finished season 1 of Silo on Apple. pretty happy with how it went. some deviations from the book series, but minor and didn't detract.
still recommend.

great day today! sitting outside waiting on some food with some good oldies playing.
Aliens
got all the spellbinding words! score.
capsule is back up
learned the hard way the difference between user and system services in systemd. blindly following the instructions for gmcapule had me install as a user and when I logged out it stopped. Fixed by putting in /etc/systemd/system/ like I should have.
not that I get much traffic (or post that much) but my capsule is down. not sure when I'll actually have time to fix it but it's on my list.
interesting pangram on spellbinding today. didn't think it would take.
I seem to water digital plants better than real ones.
impressed with the first episode of Silo on Apple. good to see the books come to life with some good visuals.
@martin is there a way (or a plan) to be able to see a listing of your own comments? maybe I just missed it?
I'm looking forward to watching Silo on Apple. I read the trilogy some years ago and loved it.
for those wondering what sequel is, like I was: Gemini://sequel.space/
I had an idea for a Gemini Contributor awards program. just popped into my head. not sure how it would work or the time investment but I think it would be a neat idea. be good to get @solderpunk take on it too
for the new folks, here are a few links to check out

I find it interesting how many astrobotany plants are alive without their owners. there's quite a few it seems.

I'm considering switching servers on my capsule so I can create a script to post to my tinylog as easily as I do here. I'm using a static server currently.
Anyone know of an epub to gpub converter? I found one but it's written in nim and I don't know what I'm doing with that lang.
any tinylogs out there that are worth subscribing to that aren't on station or bacardi55s list?
I subscribe to these and aggregate them on my capsule with #gtl for easy reading.
I think a lyric database for Gemini would be great. went searching on the web for my recent gemlog and was appalled by the amount of garbage hitting my screen for just *text*. unfortunately I don't have the time or expertise to do something like this.
finally got Writefreely running on my VPS. I like the simplicity, that it federates, AND doubles as a gopher hole.
I'm trying to remember something I read about. it was like an alternative to the about me page and would always be located at my site.tld/<here> but I can't think of it. was it something along the lines of a .plan file? should've bookmarked it. I remember wanting to add to my site
Does anyone know how I can log agate accesses and errors to a file? I'm running as a systemd service and know it has something to do with setting the environment variable but that's about it.
had to stop playing spellbinding on here for a while because it was all I thought about all day. surprisingly addicting game for the geminiverse
I was only a professional programmer for a very short period bit I found it draining. I often hear about and read about burnout among programmers, so I'm wondering how those folks that love it avoid such mental overload?
I haven't checked on crypto in a while but boy is there a huge fire sale going on. I do believe this had to happen at some point. it won't die though, and as others said, governments will swoop in and save the day with their regulations. some will welcome it. I've read an article saying as such.
What Spartan server(s) are folks using, and are they secure and reliable?
are there mirrors of solderpunk's gemlog? im trying to figure out a few things with molly brown and he mentioned some configuations in his gemlog.
