I was reading Pynchon's "TheCrying of Lot 49." I was initially intimidated by his reputation as the author of Gravity's Rainbow, but... it's both hilarious and super entertaining throughout. Didn't expect it. Also- "Kinneret-among-the-pines" is the coolest place name of all time. Why aren't real places called like this?

I looked at the first sentence of the summary on Wikipedia and I am on board already.

It's always great when books are that kind of surprise. When I read Slaughterhouse 5, the only thing I knew about it was that it features the WW2 bombing of Dresden. BOY HOWDY that book did not go how I thought it would and I had such a great time :D ยท 3 weeks ago
