I recently re-read one of my favourite technical books today: Ed Mastery by Michael W Lucas. It is a short, tongue-in-cheek, guide to ed, the standard UNIX text editor. Well worth a read for anyone that spends their days in a posix shell. Anyone else have a favourite technical book, about coding or any other discipline?
I've been trying to use Advent of Code to get better at a couple of my favourite programming languages that I don't get enough of an excuse to play with. Solved day 2's with a really simple AWK program and today's with a really neat APL one-liner. Anyone else been giving it a go this year?
Saw this wonderfully wholesome story on the theguardian yesterday, about a statue being erect in honour of Derek the Goose -- https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/nov/05/english-town-mourning-derek-the-goose-statue-watchet-somerset
How exciting! I'm always interested in more interactive stuff on Gemini; feels like there's so much more potential than just blogs (not that there's anything wrong with those).
