Watching The X-Files again and just. Imagine a US government compentent enough to both orchestrate and cover up a massive conspiracy. Wild.

I'll just pop in to say X files is awesome, and recommend you all give Gravity Falls a try :) 路 1 month ago
@drmollytov That's an interesting coincidence! I just bought a Twin Peaks DVD box with all episodes around a month and half ago! But I still didn't rip it - it's on my TODO list. 路 1 month ago
@fab We have similar tastes. I have all of these and also recently acquired Twin Peaks. :) 路 1 month ago
I ordered the complete seasons on DVD some time last year and ripped them to my home nas. I really liked them when they were first published, and watch them now from time to time. Yes, X-Files is an old series but I want to build up a collection of seasoned TV shows. I also have ripped Star Trek TNG, DS9 and Voyager. I really like these. 路 1 month ago
I love how much of a time capsule X Files is in so many ways, whether it's how the government is viewed, or sex/gender anxieties, religion ect. Some of it has aged like milk but even in the worst parts, it's still fascinating 路 1 month ago
I want to believe! trustno1 路 1 month ago
Stuff like this was seeded by the Reagan era "government is the enemy" rationale, which is a blowback from the Pentagon Papers and Nixon, which happened because of the turmoil around the Vietnam war. And the "government is the enemy" mindset is what is causing the actions we are seeing today. But the US government used to actually plan, instead of react to the vibes of the day. 路 1 month ago
While you're at it, imagine me being competent enough to post this without a typo. Inconceivable. 路 1 month ago
