I can't think of a better place to post this. But I can't help but shake the feeling that to some extent lain predicted the rise and domination of the WWW. The only thing it seemed to predict wrong was that the web would continue on with HTTP and not with Ted Nelson's Xanadu project(as is hinted at in the show). I think it tells of a warning of a society intangled with the internet and its content.

Yes, I'd agree with your interpretation of one of its messages. Every so often I think about it myself and how we're all but where the show depicts Japan to be. People are always on their devices and always posting to them, and what happens in the virtual space affects the real word. The border between the two has become blurred, and that's only going to continue happening. It's a little scary, honestly.

The show means a lot to me because I've never related to a character more in my life. And since the pandemic started, I've only sequestered increasingly more of myself into online spaces. I really should go back and watch the whole thing through.
