Then the world seemed none so bad, And I myself a sterling lad; And down in lovely muck I've lain, Happy till I woke again.

I can't think of a better place to post this. But I can't help but shake the feeling that to some extent lain predicted the rise and domination of the WWW. The only thing it seemed to predict wrong was that the web would continue on with HTTP and not with Ted Nelson's Xanadu project(as is hinted at in the show). I think it tells of a warning of a society intangled with the internet and its content.

Is this well-known? It's about kids playing with augmented reality. Probably primarily intended as childrens' television, but don't let that put you off. It's of high quality in all respects. The feel of it is a long way from Lain, much more straight, but I think Lain fans would probably appreciate it anyway.

The technology is almost believable, if you ignore all the obvious privacy concerns. It makes a great framework for the story, anyway. The story is, as you'd guess, about the kids uncovering mysterious goings on hidden in the AR system. I'm only half-way through, but completely hooked.
