If the batteries could be made cheaply enough and standardised, then the way we recharge could also change.
Roll up to a station, press a button. Your batteries descend to conveyor belt. The old batteries roll out. The new batteries roll in. Press a button and the new are lifted into place. All done in 2 minutes.
Only plausible if batteries are cheap enough to be interchangeable.
