I've only ever worked for two electrical contractors in my career, and as it things just happen to happen, a few of my fellow electricians and I have been subbed to another company for the time being. Word at the office is that "Work is comming." We've been hearing this since this past winter, including contracts that we know we have, but the major work still hasn't started and the rumor is it's not starting until 2024. The other electricians in the company are currently all in the service department, unlikely getting a full 40 hours per week. There's the irony, the 4 of us are! We also have a few running theories about the company: Either the boss wants to close up shop as they recently completed a particularly large contract, or they're looking to downsize and they're waiting for people to leave on their own. Either way it's annoying.
Over several months I've gotten so many emails from various recruiter websites. I unfortunately was overlooked for what seemed as a very cushy maintainence position. Fortunately a former co-worker reached out to me, he's busy, looking to expand and gave me an offer.
What I'm really excited about is that he's offered me a postion I didn't think I'd be in, estimator and project manager. Not only that, but the office is much closer to home. My current company really doesn't have much room for promotion.
I will be taking the job, I just have a few more things to negotiate. I'm quite excited as I'll have more time at home and if I'm lucky, I might be able to "drag" some of my current coworkers with me. I'll soon be putting in my two weeks soon. I also plan on not burning bridges, I've never been a fan of that, but I also don't plan on going back. I do plan on keeping in contact, as I do enjoy working with some of my current coworkers.
I might also end up with more time to update the capsule more often!
