Homeownership is great, and I'm not opposed to the yardwork. I'm not a fan of the manicured lawn. I also don't like overt chaos. Then there's always the bees and other animals.
Needless to say, I'm trying to get my yard to be somewhat of an equilibrium of form and function. This year I didn't mow (more like didn't have time to mow) until today. I understand the concept of "No Mow May" and I do what I can. However the yard needs to function for us and the dogs. Fortunately, the bees are out in force already and there will be plenty more flowers in a few days.
I decided to do straight lines today. Some of the thicker sections of grass would have made my circles much harder to complete. Including running the trimmer, it took me 5-6 hours to cut the grass on about 3/4 of an acre. The first mow is always the hardest and the longest.
We also have plans to change up some of the other landscaping around the house, amongst other landscaping projects. Bit by bit we will get things done!
