Today my family attended a dual birthday party, one for a 2 year old daycare buddy, the other was turning 7.
The food was good, cupcakes weren't oversweet, no tantrums. It went well!
What confused my wife and I was that gifts were not opened at the party. I remember opening gifts while my friends looked on. When did this change? Is it now the norm? I feel it disengages the participants from the act of gift giving. Granted the ages were quite low, they might not be able to understand gratitude etc.
I hope this isn't the norm, if it is, I'll likely be breaking it. Perhaps I'll end up being Lucky's Dad.
