Most of my Bahraini friends are in fact Shiats, and they all say the same thing, extreme hardliners are calling for the protests with the aim of toppling the government and aligning with Iran, no democracy, no freedoms, thats all made up demands for the media to eat up.

I doubt you have friends that are shia. It sounds shady because for starters, no one calls themselves a "shiats." If anything, the majority doesn't want a sunni shariat.
