In all seriousness, we have as many idiots and simpletons as anyone, possible more because we're a huge fucking country by comparison. We also have plenty of normal, reasonable people. We have lots of academics too. We have religious fanatics, we have insane cults, we have incredible scientists and universities, we have awesome and terrible politicians. Culturally we're a mess, all over the place.
