i also find this hard to believe, i've got a 3ghz phenom ii x4, a 5850, and 8gb of ram and i have to turn down some settings, mainly post processing.

I have a phenom ii x3 710, a 260, and 4gb of ram and I run on "nearly" Ultra with 8x FXAA.
The only thing I have turned down is a few of the draw distances, because they aren't important to me, and it was a little choppy outside (might try fiddling with them some more though, I actually have far more FPS than I need at my current settings).
