Yes. That is what they are saying. They are saying eventually they intend to close down support of old.reddit.

Now, they are saying it is in some distant future, where there is complete feature parity for moderators, and they also state they want "the vast majority" of redditors to love using it. They do not consider 4% old.reddit use to be a minority enough, I guess. Maybe they are waiting for 99% the other way?

imo, they'll shutter it as soon as they are able, they are likely suffering from pride of their new design they worked so hard on, and old.reddit users basically give them the finger every time they log in without using it. All that development effort, so 4% of users can tell them to get bent. I'd be a little annoyed too.

Those 4% are likely a lot of power users, so being pissy that they prefer a different type of use shouldn't make them mad, it should motivate them to improve.

Not trying to give them the finger, but I just like old reddit better. I like videos not auto playing, I like to be able to only open the posts I want to see.

Also, just prefer the simpler forum-like layout. Not everything needs to try and be like instagram.

They can't get rid of old reddit while it's the backbone of moderating. As soon as they fix their mod tools, they'll get rid of old reddit. 4% of users or not.

letting an intern work 4h on a new design is hard work?

I really hope this didn't come from some kind of UI/UX designer or at least I hope they'd be fired by now if it did.

Maybe they should have made it less shitty.
