there are some fringe cases where it could be useful, such as mod teams communicating with each other in private.

i can't see any use case for public chat rooms though. like most of the reddit developments over the last 5 years or so, they're just trying to copy what other companies are doing, but doing a much worse job of it. in this case, it's dollar store discord.

Considering the amount of "woman" (bots playing girls) are in Chat, it's more the dumpster behind the dollar store.
