Most people suck and don’t tip, but every once in a while you get a generous customer. Only worth it if you decline like 90% of offers

It's mostly the fault of DoorDash / Uber Eats. They should just charge appropriately for the distance, volume of food to carry, and the time of day. Defaulting a tip to 20% of the order total, after having two fee line items "Delivery Fee" and "Taxes & Fees" amounting to like 30% on top of the order, where the cost of the food is already marked up because the restaurant pays a fee to them too....it's just not conducive a fair outcome for the drivers, or even the customers really. Everybody gets a little ripped off except DoorDash/Uber. When I use DD/UE I ignore the suggested tip and just go by the distance and time of day and what feels appropriate for those, defaulting to a percentage of the order makes no sense.

From what I understood there was a bidding situation where the drivers can not choose to fulfill orders if the tip was too low?
