View submission: Movies that were perfectly cast
I just remember the OG X-men movie, being in the early run of those comic-to-movie transitions that are oh so popular now, being pretty much every x-men nerd's fan vote for who to cast. Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman were obviously perfect, but Ian McKellan, Halle Berry, even James Marsden as cyclops all kinda feel like they couldn't really have been topped.

I came to post this. Nightcrawler was top notch. Famke Jansen (whom I love) may not have been perfect, but she seemed better than anyone else I could think of at the time. Iceman seemed perfect casting to me as well.

Dougray Scott was originally cast as Wolverine until he was injured while filming that dumbass midair motorcycle collision for Mission: Impossible II. 20th Century Fox recast the role, and now 25 years later, we have John Woo to thank for Hugh Jackman being Logan.

Hard disagree. Especially with Halle Berry as Storm.

I love that story about Patrick Stewart's casting. As the story goes...
His agent is trying to convince him that this is going to be a big deal. He's hesitant to get involved in another sci-fi franchise. His agent tells him it's more than a superficial comic book stereotype and mentions the civil rights allegory. He agrees to take a look at one of the X-Men comics. He's handed one of the issues they have on hand, and gets a little mad. "Why are they already using my likeness on the cover of this?"

Nah, no shot. Patrick Stewart, and Famke Janssen are perfect casting- sure.
But Magneto was never portrayed as an old man like McKellan was in the comics. For instance, Rutger Hauer would've been as good for the role if not better. McKellan did fantastic, but that's far from perfect casting. And Halle Berry had no gravitas as Storm- she's the weakest link in the whole cast. Too soft-spoken and delicate looking. Angela Bassett would've crushed that role in her sleep.

Hugh Jackman turned out to be a great Wolverine, but he's like physically the opposite of coming book Logan, so IDK if this is a perfect choice.
Halle Berry is irrelevant to the film, too, actually really dislike that casting.

I think every kid that grew up in the 90s pictured Patrick Stewart as Professor X.
