This is the best answer, imo. The movie is awful because it's so close to reality it hurts. That makes it perfect. Even the farmers they have at the chicken farm are so painfully real that I have PTSD of my hometown whenever I see it. Lol Deb is a true hometown girl, the jock looking 30 years old is perfect, Rex, etc. It's just perfect, and it's the most painful movie I've watched (several times).

I could agree with this, even though I initially thought someone like Michael Cera wouldn't have been a bad substitute for Heder
