That's not what *Reddit* wants tho. They want people to recognize the website on every sub, and don't feel disoriented. They want consistency, and considering how wild the subs are going with the CSS, that's completely understandable.

While should the entire community have to suffer just because you don't like their theme..?

I think the question Reddit is asking themselves is "why should we as a site suffer just because few communities can't keep their CSS reasonable".

Also, nobody's gonna suffer just because you lose some custom animations or emoticons. Sure, less fun, some cool gimmicks lost like our nice map of local subs over at /r/sweden, but hey, we're talking about suffering.
