i genuinely hate that I'm being forced to use the new UI. I don't ever write posts like this, but this is something that irks me so bad that I just feel like I have to voice my concern somehow or somewhere. I never liked the UI change, since it came out ages ago & now that it's no longer possible to use the 2nd gen UI by using third party extensions / quirks in the site, I really don't see myself spending any more time on this site.
I just don't understand how you have a multitude of people complaining and voicing their dislike in the UI for almost a year now, and choose to not only ignore them, but make it so that they can no longer choose how to view the site in their preferred way?? imo the 2nd gen UI was the perfect UI in terms of how it looked & functioned. during the old UI, I would use reddit on pc more compared to my phone just because of how satisfying it was in general.
I don't see any legitimate reasons why you would downgrade into the mobile-esque thing that wastes SOOOOO much space for literally zero reason other than cutting costs and laziness. i forced myself to use and like old.reddit the other day, since there's literally zero chance the devs ever remove that and it still looks miles better than the current UI.
there's a slim chance the UI gets reverted, but at least make it so third parties are able to do so again. or change it so the user can choose what layout they want.

It's so frustrating to feel powerless against a company that is actively making your experience worse in the most obvious way because they are vocally saying they don't care and are going to force this change through no matter what.
