Even if we don't blame people for their actions, it can still make sense to remove them from society for the greater good.

If we take determinism seriously, someone gets imprisoned because all circumstances up until the moment of imprisonment predetermined that they would be imprisoned. Not only their personal circumstances, but also the circumstances that led to:

• the decisions of the jury and judge
• the way the prosecutor and defender made their cases
• their society to have the law they broke and associated punishments
• their society having the legal model it has

etc.

So it's something that looks and behaves like responsibility and blame , but isnt.
