Even if we don't blame people for their actions, it can still make sense to remove them from society for the greater good.

If we take determinism seriously, someone gets imprisoned because all circumstances up until the moment of imprisonment predetermined that they would be imprisoned. Not only their personal circumstances, but also the circumstances that led to:

etc.
