The goal of prisons should be rehabilitation (which is what most justice systems claim already).

Imprisoning is the time we can control the external variables applied to ensure (attempt anyhow) to reconfigure the brain algorithms to produce different results in the future.

Even if we don't blame people for their actions, it can still make sense to remove them from society for the greater good.
