View submission: [OC] Price of Reddit Awards

What a pile of useless crap awards. Do we really need hundreds of different awards? What good do they do anyway other than giving money to reddit?

Edit : I'm not undermining OPs post, I think it's nice someone trying to explain the confusing award system. Just saying I do not see the point of having more than 3/4 awards, and also I don't understand people going crazy giving awards, many times for things that end up being fake, like the infamous case of the cancer kid

The people who buy them like variety. If they get bored, they stop buying. Reddit appeases them to keep the revenue going.

Most of the time I can't even see what an award is because it's too small. Then if I click on it to try and find out, it just takes me to the sub's gilded posts.

It does show how under valued having too many awards is. What ever was wrong with just having 1 or 2?

Not to mention that most of the new ones are just “inside Reddit jokes” which is cringey as fuck.

Hm, you don't seem to have the constant burning itch to consume product that normal people feel. Please get checked out for that.

Reddit is a company, why would they be expected to anything for any reason but to make themselves more money?

I mean, it’s either that or reddit begs us for money every time we use the site like wikipedia does.

The fire one is the only one that seemed worthwhile. Everything else just seems meh.

For those that don't care about the shinies, this is also on your user page:

I've chosen to not update my app ever since they introduced these eyesores

Sure it means some things are broken on my end, but i'm living a blissfully ignorant life over here

Agreed, there was nothing wrong with just silver and gold. *Maybe* platinum but after that it just got silly.
