Could I save myself 80 dollars?

I managed to get my hands on a 3060 Ti. I'm currently running an R5 2600 that I plan on upgrading to an R5 5600x or 5600(if/when it drops) sometime next Spring. I'm currently running a 550w PSU, but bought a 650w PSU yesterday for $80 cause it was on sale. I just felt a bit more comfortable with the overhead, but will I be fine if I return it and stick with my 550w? Any money saved is always appreciated.

Pc part picker says I should be fine, but I would like some opinions on this that aren't based solely on numbers. Thanks in advance guys

Going off Nvidia alone they suggest 600w.

That's all the info I have.

99% sure you'll be ok on 550w. A 3060ti has a peak power draw of 200w, or 220w overclocked. The 5600x is a 65w rated chip and I doubt an all-core boost load will exceed 100w. For example the highest power draw I have had on my 5900x is 165w under all-core boost, and that is double the cores of a 5600x. So ~100+220 still leaves over 200w for motherboard, memory, drives, fans, etc on a 550w psu. Remember AMD cpus are not like Intel 10900Ks which draw 300w on an all core overclock.

A non-80+ Raidmax? Trash it (well, return it). A low-end EVGA 80+? It's probably fine. A Corsair RMx? You'll have headroom to spare. The 550W and 650W numbers tell us something, but not enough.

I couldn't find a direct statement from nvidia, but the verge says Nvidia is recommending a minimum of 600w.
