What do we think of a Ryzen 9 9300 (not the X) coming with an MSI x470 Pro motherboard for £430?

Seem a good deal? It's going to pair with a 1080 (for now) for VR (racing sims, mainly)

I don’t know what pricing normally is in the UK but converted to USD and comparing to US prices, that’s much cheaper than if you bought them separately. So it’s a great deal... if those are the parts you planned to buy anyways.

The question is whether you need a 3900, you could likely buy a 3600 + mobo much cheaper which is great for most games. You could buy a 5600X + mobo for a similar price which will be *better* for most games than the 3900. Assuming you can actually find a 5600X for sale of course...

Probably overkill. The 3900 isn't notably better than a much-cheaper 3600 or 3600x for gaming.
