Want to see your build complete[1] photos featured on /r/buildapc?
As discussed in a recent thread[2], we're going to look at switching up the header image on a more regular basis - don't worry, we'll save the current one for special occasions. This is something of an experiment, and due to the subreddit CSS we'll be looking for images that are compatible with the general design, so don't be offended if we don't immediately use everyone's!
Interested? Send us a modmail[3] with subject: "Banner Images" with your best build pictures! In the interests of higher res displays, please ensure images are at least 1920px by 200px.

Would I be correct in assuming that a 3060ti would run 1440p games better/faster than a 5700xt?

Made a new build and can't seem to get my RAM to run at its advertised speed. The XMP default used 3200MHz/1.35V which doesn't boot. Tried 3200MHz/1.4V but it didn't work. Currently running at 3000Mhz/1.35V which seems stable. Is this normal or should I return the RAM?

So, after 10 minutes of googling without getting an answer. I've come here. The aio i ordered says that if using a y splitter for the aio fans using the cpu_opt port is recommended heavily. I wonder why since its only an 1A output while the motherboard does have a 3A one which would give all the fans the basic 1A of power right?

I want to upgrade my pc (basically all new except my graphics card will need to last some more months (GTX 970)). I will get the Ryzen 5 3600 (since some people recommended it to me) and am now not sure what mobo to get. I heard you can get one that includes wifi? I would like that if it isn't too costly and I also read about those M.2 SSD-Slots? I think that would also be nicer than having an extra card with an cable in the case.
I'm not sure if I understood all that correct, so don't hesitate to tell me if I wrote some bullshit.
But can you maybe recommend me a good mobo for this? It would be good under 200€.
(If it matters, this will probably be the case I will get: https://www.caseking.de/Lian-Li-LANCOOL-II-Mesh-Performance-Midi-Tower-Tempered-Glass-schwarz-GELI-843.html[1])

I’m building my first pc this month. Waiting on all my parts to ship.
I only have macs in the house. I see that I am able to create a Windows usb boot disk using Boot Camp in OSX.
What about updating my BIOS? Should I do this before or after I install windows? I’ve seen both ways.
If I should update before installing windows, in OSX I can only format a disk for windows as FAT32. Does the usb drive have to be formatted NTFS to be seen by my BIOS? Or can I update the bios from a FAT32 formatted usb drive? Motherboard will be a Gigabyte, if that makes a difference.
The latest update for my motherboard is only 20mb. So file size isn’t forcing me into NTFS. Lots of googling couldn’t get me an answer. Thanks for your help.

Is putting a WiFi card in my cheapo Optiplex worth it or are the USB adapters essentially the same thing?

Hi all,
I know this may not be the most obvious place to post since i'm on console, but my question is in regard to gaming monitors, so hoping you guys could help settle an issue I have...
So I have a PS4 currently and have been looking at a switch from TV gaming to monitor. I'm currently looking for monitors that will still be relevant when I upgrade to PS5.
I have limited it down to 2 monitors https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07PFJH2YX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabt1_dlC_Yx5XFbSQTA03K[1] https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08KQ7HWY7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabt1_bH5XFbX50BCXM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1[2]

Both are pretty similarly priced, both 24", 144hz, 2.0 HDMI. One has 3000:1 contrast ratio and 4ms response time. The other 1000:1 and 1ms response time. Ideally I would like to play competitive online warzone etc. So response time is important. My question is whether it is generally more noticeable the difference in response times between 1 and 4ms or contrast ratios of 1000 and 3000:1? Which would you go for?
Thanks in advance guys

Good day r/buildapc! I have an RX 580 Red Devil Golden Sample pretty happy with it actually but was kinda worried about temps. Running at stock the max I've seen is 80°C while playing Control (really awesome game btw). So what I did was is I've undervolted/underclocked it to 1340MHz @ 1060mV, run Superposition and Heaven benchmarks (max at 72°C) and again play Control and get max temps around 76°C. The weird thing though is that when I manage to UV/UC it at stock speeds (default at Adrenalin is 1425MHz @ 1150mV) and run benchmarks it crashes. Tried it again with higher voltage (1175mV upto 1180mV), still it crashes at Heaven after 15mins or so. It really makes me wonder if I have a badly binned GPU considering it a "Golden Sample" card.

Should I get a new Prime B460M-A for $80 or an open box Prime Z490-A for $144? Looking to use this MOBO with an i5-10400.

In the event that I get luck enough to grab a RTX 3060 TI, would my 550W PSU be enough to juice it? I have a Ryzen 3600 and like 2 or 3 SATA SSDs on my B450 Tomahawk Max

Can anyone recommend an upgrade? I am looking at an RTX3070 (when I can find one), but just wanted to check that something else wouldnt be slowing the system down (it's fairly old):
Intel Core i7 4770k 3.8Ghz
Gigabyte G1 Sniper
16GB RAM (2x8GB DDR3 1866mhz)
GTX 1070 (upgraded from 780Ti a few years back)

I'm thinking if anything, the bottleneck would be the processor, but if I were to replace this, what would be the recommendation? and would I need a new motherboard?

I have 3 intake fans. I’m getting a fan hub today, so tell me if this would work out: using liquid cooling as an exhaust INTAKE fan, and adding 2 exhaust fans to the top of the case

I’m trying to install my 3060ti but it won’t seem to read. It says Microsoft basic display adapter under display adapters, and the MSI Software doesn’t acknowledge its there. Monitor is running just fine but I can’t game at all. Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this?

I am rebuilding my Unraid server to increase capabilities and to allow for game streaming on LAN.
I'm having trouble determining if the SeaSonic FOCUS Plus Gold 650 W (https://www.amazon.com/Seasonic-GX-650-Full-Modular-Application-SSR-650FX/dp/B077J9QTDR/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=gx-650&qid=1606926762&sr=8-1[1]) will be sufficient for the following components based on the included cables and the power requirements.
Will this combination work? Will I need to buy any additional cables? If so, which ones?
Mobo - Gigabyte Z390 AORUS ELITE CPU - Intel Core i7-9700K GPU - Some mid-level variant of the GTX 1070 (not selected yet, I'm open to recommendations) Drives - Four 8TB HDD (huh728080ale600), One 2TB HDD, One 250 GB SSD

What do we think of a Ryzen 9 9300 (not the X) coming with an MSI x470 Pro motherboard for £430?
Seem a good deal? It's going to pair with a 1080 (for now) for VR (racing sims, mainly)

Weird question.....but whatever happened to discrete sound cards? I remember building PCs waaaaaaay back in the day and most of them 'featured' discrete sound cards (Creative Sound Blaster, etc). Now even the most top-of-the-line gaming PCs just use on board sound....what gives?
