View submission: Straight Guy Reading Romance
I’m a truck driver and we have cameras our trucks. I listen to audio books while I drive. More than once it’s caught a spicy part of a book. I’ve caught some flak for it and they like to poke at me about it. I just say “hey man my wife enjoys the benefits when I get home” or revert to school age tactics and say “you’re sister/mom”
But I’ve pretty much started a non formal book club at work. A couple of the managers will hit me up and ask what I’m listening to. And if it’s a book I know they want to read or are reading I tell them to make sure any videos from me are muted at that time so they don’t get spoilers.
In short no one really cares.

Yeah, as adults (at least in most places in the US), nobody truly cares what you do, as long as it isn't hurting anybody. They might poke fun, but only a rare few would be jerks about it.
Though I'm not sure how old OP is. While it is stupid, there could be some social repercussions if they're college aged or younger - or living somewhere where it isn't acceptable.

First, thanks for your work; I, who hate driving, just got off a long road trip and I was thinking a lot about truckers’ long hours and the aches and pains you have to deal with just to make sure everyone can eat and be clothed and do a million other things. Second, what’s been your favorite read on a long haul? Has there been a book where you stayed in your seat even after you were home to hear the end of it?
