I'm not entirely sure you're being serious, but I'm going to assume you are for the sake of my response. Time, money, and manpower are the important things to look at here. It took more than 2300 years to build the Great Wall of China. I have no idea what the cost was in monetary value, but I'm sure we can all imagine that it would be immense, same with the man power involved. Sure, we have machinery today, but we're still talking about an insane amount of human effort to build a 2000 mile stone wall.

The Wall of China took over a thousand years to build. It started off as strategic fortresses, and then over many centuries they were gradually connected. It STILL isn't an unbroken chain (it isn't actually one wall) and it has a long and storied history of people getting in anyways.
