Or we need to make different clubs for commenters and filthy linkers (and text-whores) since comment karma has been extremely non-volatile.

I've always maintained that comment karma is the One True Karma, but sadly, the codebase disagrees. It referes to `karma` and `comment_karma`, as though the latter is simply an afterthought :(

Comment karma is the one true karma. It's hard to share your opinion and somehow manage to make people agree with you 100%. Sometimes I say things and get downvoted to hell, but it's genuinely my opinion and I wouldn't change it either way. Sometimes I'm just plain wrong. Either way, acquiring comment karma is really hard without a novelty account or being Reddit famous like Unidan was.

Strongly agree. Oh you copy and pasted a link to some picture you didn't even take, how skillful. Meanwhile us hardworking commenters are scouring rising Askreddit threads making generally agreeable comments in hopes that the thread takes off. That's good honest karma gathering.

But so many of my favourite CC-ers are dirty linkers though, can't we all just get along??
