There were a few more elements to it than that... The Shah was an unpopular American puppet installed when the CIA overthrew Iran's legitimate government in 1953.

Exactly. Their government destroys your country, they don't even bother to learn about that, and then they turn around and say 'your problems are because of your own backwards beliefs. Hey guys what should we do to make sure this doesn't happen to US??'
It's so insulting and infuriating.
