There are hundreds of sites that manage to have no moderation, or completely different structures, and are commerically viable. Just because reddit sucks at making money, doesn't mean the owners should be pissing off the people that work hard to curtail content on behalf of the company. Mods do what mods do (usually poorly, but whatever, who gives a shit), it's not up to them to figure out a business plan that works (hint, turning on adwords alone would be enough, instead of this shitty ad system they have in place. I do tons of advertising, and never in a million years would I advertise on reddit).

Beyond that, what was trying to be stated, was that if you're going to structure something the way reddit is, don't be pissed when there are revolts because the straw breaks the camels back.
