This is true. Posts and topics made by Gold users don't show up, and if they are gilded after the fact. If there were any comments, said post is replaced with this[1].

It's actually proving to be quite annoying, as people are deliberately censoring posts by gilding them, and those of us who are gilded essentially are stuck in read only mode/reliant on throwaways.
